Overview

The General Commissioner for Refugees and Stateless Persons is an independent federal administration. The mission of the CGRA is to offer protection to individuals who risk persecution or serious harm if they return to their country of origin. In accordance with Belgian, European, and international standards, the CGRA examines each request for international protection in an individual, objective, and impartial manner.

A modernization process has been initiated within the CGRA, translated into the eDossier program. This is a very ambitious program, consisting of several projects, with a very tight schedule. To further shape and develop the program, we are looking for strong profiles who wish to engage temporarily (fixed-term contracts (time and means), terminable immediately, renewable upon positive evaluation) until at least the end of 2028.

One of the profiles we are looking for is a Lead Front End Developer/Engineer, expert level (+10 years of experience, mandatory), specialized in Angular 2+ and with a thorough knowledge of RUST. The development of websites is not considered relevant experience; the development of web portals or online shops is. If you are a full-stack developer, you must have performed at least 6 years of full-time front-end development in the last 10 years (mandatory).

Key Responsibilities

As a lead front end engineer, you determine the front end architecture and technical direction in collaboration with our architecture team. You design scalable, maintainable, and secure front end architecture (e.g., components, state management, build pipelines) and select the appropriate technologies and standards for the long term.
As a lead front end engineer, you take on technical leadership and mentorship. You guide other front end developers (both during onboarding and towards their further development/growth), conduct qualitative code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices.
As a lead front end engineer, you act as a liaison with other stakeholders and work closely with UX architects and solution engineers to develop efficient, performant, and feasible solutions and bring them into production.
As an experienced front-end Engineer/developer with expertise in the Angular framework and extensive experience in integrating RESTful services, you are passionate about building modern and scalable web applications. Your skills enable you to design and develop seamless, modern, and responsive user interfaces, leveraging the power of Angular 2+ and the capabilities of RESTful services.
You are capable of translating wireframes and prototypes into well-structured, semantic, and reusable code. You are well-versed in implementing the latest frontend technologies and best practices, considering the capabilities and limitations of various browsers and devices.

Skills & Experience

Preferably a degree in computer science (short or long cycle), obtained from a recognized college or university within the European Union (the diploma must be submitted along with the CV on the Pro Unity platform).
Continuously educating oneself to stay informed of the latest sustainable trends and innovations in front-end development.
Hands-on experience with front-end web application development, 10 years.
Hands-on experience with accessing and consuming APIs in front-end, 10 years.
Hands-on experience in leading/managing a front-end development team, 5 years.
Hands-on experience with cloud-native front-end application development, 5 years.
Hands-on experience with Angular 2+ framework, 5 years.
Hands-on experience with desktop application development, 1 year.
Hands-on experience with Rust programming language, 1 year.
Hands-on experience in defining and developing APIs, 5 years.
Hands-on experience in developing web portals based on web portal technology or via Angular 2+ framework, 5 years.
Hands-on experience as a front-end architect (design and architecture of front-end solutions), 5 years.
Hands-on experience in developing and optimizing library components of a Design System, 5 years.
Hands-on experience in implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, preferably within Azure DevOps, 3 years.
Hands-on experience working within agile delivery teams, 5 years.
