Overview
The purpose of this assignment is to contribute to the development of AI applications in the field of Computer Vision (mainly detection & analysis scenarios) and Natural Language Processing (mainly Large Language Model-based solutions). To autonomously carry out this assignment, we are looking for an AI Engineer with at least 5 years of relevant experience in Python and AI applications in one or both relevant domains.Key Responsibilities
For the AI & Innovation team within the Police Zone Antwerp, we are looking for an AI engineer. The projects being developed mainly use locally hosted AI models and are aimed at assisting a wide audience within the police zone Antwerp (analysts, detectives, intervention teams, ...) in various daily tasks and scenarios. Some applications need to be integrated with the standard Focus platform (which brings certain restrictions regarding allowed build & development frameworks), while others are stand-alone. The applications vary from specialized chatbots, detection of objects and situations in camera images (live + recordings), speech-to-text, and applications that help analyze and search large amounts of text and image material.We are looking for someone with a passion for AI and a strong drive to use the latest open-source models in real-life use cases. The AI team works intensively with the Claude Code framework for all realizations – knowledge and experience with the framework (or similar frameworks) as well as the willingness to maximize the use of this framework is a requirement.
The selected candidate will join a very agile team with a strong "get-it-done" mentality that places great importance on maintaining excellent relationships with end-user groups, with a keen eye for and interest in daily police realities. We expect the candidate to be able to work independently but also to be a true team player.
The emphasis for this role is on developing innovative AI applications that require knowledge of and experience with locally hosted AI models and best practices around them.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience as an AI Consultant
Proven experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or Java for developing AI applications
Proven experience with various machine learning techniques
Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for scaling AI solutions.
Languages
Language requirement: Fluent in Dutch at European CEFR level C2.
