Overview
We are looking for a data engineer for the project Deviations SGBP & Fact sheets.We are responsible for the preparation of river basin management plans (SGBP). These include actions to improve the status of surface water and groundwater. We are also responsible for the monitoring of these management plans. For the preparation of the new generation of river basin management plans, we want to develop additional tools to optimize and automate the process.
The Factsheets project involves the creation of a printable 'digital document' needed for discussions regarding the preparation of the draft plans, including the public consultation and the final establishment of the SGBP4. Urgency of the project: The draft river basin management plan, including the proposal for deviations per water body, must go into public consultation in September 2026, therefore aiming for the end of June 2026 as the end date for the sub-project factsheets.
Key Responsibilities
As a developer, you are responsible for developing solutions that meet the requirements set out in the functional analysis and are able to technically implement the solution to be built.
You monitor the quality of the delivered solutions in collaboration with colleagues and end users. Development is done in accordance with the standards and best practices established by our organization.

Interviews will take place at the end of March 2026.
Work is done in an Agile environment.
Performance is partly to be delivered at our premises in Aalst between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM (to be discussed).
We provide the necessary licenses, software, and network access for executing the assignment. We do not provide an office license. Office 365 software can be made available, but without a license. The applicant must use their own company license. Alternatively, LibreOffice can be made available.

Proven experience as a Data Engineer
Proven experience with Azure Data Factory
Proven experience with Databricks
Proven experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for developing data streams and ETL processes
Proven experience in designing and implementing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes
Proven experience with databases
Knowledge of organization and experience in government assignments or specifically with our organization and with the technical standards within our organization
Advantages for relevant Azure certificates or certificates regarding the tools used.
