Within the Intelligence & Innovation department of the local police zone, we are building a robust and future-oriented data operation to support both operational and strategic decision-making.
Overview
The Data Excellence & Data Architects team plays a central role in structuring, unlocking, and valorizing data. In this context, we are looking for a Data Scientist Expert who not only develops analytical models but also takes an active role in shaping the underlying data architecture and data flows.Key Responsibilities
Analyzing and structuring complex datasets and data flows within the organization
Developing predictive and optimization models to support operational and strategic use cases
Designing and implementing data pipelines and data models in collaboration with data engineers and architects
Contributing to the development of a scalable data platform (cloud/hybrid)
Translating business needs into data-driven solutions and analytical use cases (including AI/GenAI)
Supporting the organization in increasing data maturity and data-driven work
Communicating insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in optimizing/tuning databases and queries
Proven experience in analyzing data flows
Proven experience in reporting
Proven experience with databases (SQL, Oracle)
Proven experience with scripting (Shell, Perl, Python)
Languages
Language requirement: Fluent in Dutch at European CEFR level C2.
Additional Info
Proven knowledge and experience with AI/GenAI
Proven knowledge and experience with Azure and Databricks
Proven knowledge and experience with machine learning and/or statistical models in production environments
Proven knowledge and experience with Python and SQL

What you'll do
- Het analyseren en structureren van complexe datasets en datastromen binnen de organisatie
- Het ontwikkelen van predictieve en optimalisatie-modellen ter ondersteuning van operationele en strategische use cases
- Het ontwerpen en implementeren van data pipelines en datamodellen in samenwerking met data engineers en architecten
- Het bijdragen aan de uitbouw van een schaalbaar data platform (cloud/hybride)
- Het vertalen van businessnoden naar data-gedreven oplossingen en analytische use cases (incl. AI/GenAI)
- Het ondersteunen van de organisatie in het verhogen van data maturity en datagedreven werken
- Het communiceren van inzichten naar zowel technische als niet-technische stakeholders
What we're looking for
- Aantoonbare ervaring in het optimaliseren/tunen van databases en queries
- Aantoonbare ervaring met het analyseren van datastromen
- Aantoonbare ervaring met rapportering
- Aantoonbare ervaring met databanken (SQL, Oracle)
- Aantoonbare ervaring met scripting (Shell, perl, python)
- Aantoonbare kennis en ervaring met AI/GenAI
- Aantoonbare kennis en ervaring met Azure en Databricks
- Aantoonbare kennis en ervaring met machine learning en/of statistische modellen in productieomgevingen
- Aantoonbare kennis en ervaring met Python en SQL
