Overview
The department is looking for an expert full stack Java developer who is willing to engage long-term to become a member of a close-knit development team. You will be the technical point of contact for the team, ensuring the smooth operation of the group and being an expert in the various technologies used within the tech stack of the department. You should also be comfortable working with geographic information systems.You will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team where you will be responsible for almost all aspects of web application development.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for the functional and technical design. We are looking for candidates who possess an engineering mindset, meaning the candidate should be able to translate a business need into a technical solution.
Each development team is responsible for a specific knowledge domain (enforcement, regulation, geographic, ...) and has specific specialization in knowledge building within this domain. Learning by doing is key.
The applications managed by the team mainly fall within their own knowledge domain. New solutions are being built, but existing applications in use must also be actively maintained.
You are expected to be in the office in Brussels at least 2 days a week. The other days you can work remotely. The office is easily accessible by public transport, but there are also facilities for cyclists (secure parking, showers, lockers) and motorists (parking garage in the building).

Proven experience in developing Java-based applications.
Proven experience with JavaScript.
Proven experience with Spring framework.

Proven knowledge of JPA/Hibernate.
Proven knowledge of Maven.
Proven knowledge of REST.
Proven education with certification or equivalent experience in programming languages and environments such as Java/J2EE.
Proven experience in leading a development team and coaching developers.
Proven experience in programming tasks, being able to code, test, and debug very smoothly.
Proven knowledge and experience of Agile development methodology, where a leading role can be taken.
Proven knowledge of Testing.
Proven knowledge of Node/npm.
Proven experience within the public sector.
Languages
Language requirement: Dutch at European CEFR level C2.
Additional Info
Minimum of 2 days a week in the office in Brussels.
Remote work possible.
