Overview
We are looking for a senior full stack Java developer who is willing to commit long-term to become a member of a close-knit development team. You will be the technical point of contact for the team, ensuring the smooth operation of the group and being an expert in the various technologies used within the tech stack. You should also be comfortable working with geographic information systems.You will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team responsible for nearly all aspects of web application development.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for functional and technical design. We are looking for candidates with an engineering mindset, meaning you should be able to translate a business need into a technical solution.
Each development team is responsible for a specific knowledge domain (enforcement, regulation, geographic, etc.) and specializes in knowledge building within this domain. Learning by doing is key.
The applications managed by the team primarily fall within their own knowledge domain. New solutions will be built, but existing applications in use must also be actively maintained.
You are expected to be in the office in Brussels at least 2 days a week. The Herman Teirlinck building is easily accessible by public transport and offers facilities for cyclists (secure parking, showers, lockers) and motorists (parking garage in the building).

Skills & Experience
Proven experience in developing Java-based applications (Must have, 5 Years, Senior).
Proven experience with Javascript (Must have, 5 Years, Senior).
Proven experience with JPA/Hibernate (Must have).
Proven experience with Maven (Must have).
Proven experience with Spring framework (Must have, 5 Years, Senior).
Relevant education with certification or equivalent experience in programming languages and environments such as Java/J2EE (Must have).
Language requirement: Dutch at European CEFR level C2 (Must have).
Experience within the public sector (Should have).
Experience in leading a development team and coaching developers (Should have).
Experience in programming tasks such as coding, testing, and debugging (Should have).
Experience with Node/npm (Should have).
Experience with testing (Should have).
Knowledge and experience of Agile development methodology, with the ability to take a leading role (Should have).
Languages
Dutch: Native (C2), required.
English: Very good (C1), required.
French: Good (B2), required.
