We are looking for a Spatial Planner to assist in the implementation of climate adaptation policies and spatial transformations in the Dender Valley. The role involves drafting regional spatial implementation plans and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure effective participation and management.

ABOUT US

The Department of Environment is actively engaged in the implementation of climate adaptation policy and the necessary spatial transformations in the Dender Valley through the area-oriented program T.OP Dender.

The Strategic Plan Space for Water Dendervallei (https://ruimtevoorwater.be) outlines various actions to provide sustainable solutions to the flooding in the built Dender Valley while simultaneously creating spatial and societal added value. The Department of Environment is looking for a spatial planner to help realize this.

ROLE

As a spatial planner, you will be co-responsible for the drafting of regional spatial implementation plans. In these planning processes, the theme of building shift is prominently addressed, with a significant focus on the necessary climate-adaptive measures.
Stakeholder engagement and participation are integrally linked to these planning processes.
From the T.OP Dender operation, structural partnerships in the area are present that you can build upon, including cooperation with the involved municipalities, the province of East Flanders, De Vlaamse Waterweg nv, the Agency for Nature and Forest, and the Flemish Environment Agency.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in a spatial direction, such as spatial planner, urban planner, urban engineering, (landscape) architect, geographer, or equivalent through experience.
Software skills: You are proficient in using QGIS, and experience with other relevant software is a plus.
Team player: You have a strong team spirit and are able to collaborate with various stakeholders within the spatial domain.
Analytical ability: Familiarity with supra-local analyses and scenario formation, and the ability to accurately assess how these affect local interventions.
Spatial Visualization: You have the capacity to summarize, analyze, and visually represent complex spatial challenges clearly.
Stakeholder management: You are able to set up qualitative process and stakeholder management aimed at effective collaboration and communication.
Knowledge of spatial instruments: You have notions of the spatial instruments in Flanders, allowing you to effectively navigate within the applicable regulations and policy frameworks.

PLUS POINTS

Design Research: You are able to conduct design research, exploring innovative and sustainable solutions.
Negotiation skills: Familiarity with negotiations between various parties and sectors, allowing you to effectively contribute to consensus.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Work regime negotiable 80% or 100%.
The rate can be indexed annually according to the price revision clause with client approval.
This contract can be extended.
There is no mileage reimbursement to the office. The cost of necessary travel to the requested site will be reimbursed according to the offered rate.
