FUNCTION

The technical lead of applications within NIHDI-ICT occupies a key position in the technical direction of the organization, mainly within a team specialized in applications. He/she is responsible for providing effective technical solutions for a specific portfolio. His/her role includes technical oversight of new project initiatives and maintenance of existing applications. In collaboration with developers and other team members, including functional experts and business analysts, he/she also ensures coordination with the portfolio architect and the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) teams. Reporting directly to the project manager, his/her expertise is essential to drive innovation and integrate technological solutions that align with business objectives and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities


The role of the technical lead combines high-level technical oversight with practical coding. This dual responsibility ensures that the technical lead remains closely tied to the technical details and challenges of the project while providing technical leadership and guidance on technical design. The main responsibilities of a technical lead are as follows:

•Technical leadership and guidance: Provide advice and mentoring to the development team, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
•Final technical responsibility for software systems within the application team: Oversee all technical aspects within the application team, ensuring that software development and deployment meet the organization’s standards and objectives.
•Active contribution to development: Devote a significant portion of time to practical development tasks, participating in coding, feature development, and bug fixing.
•Preparation of technical deliverables: Create detailed technical documentation for software releases, including infrastructure requests and production deployment documents.
•Configuration change requests to I&O: Manage configuration change requests to I&O to ensure system stability and performance.
•System design: Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems, adhering to architectural standards and complementing the overall architecture in collaboration with the architecture team.
•Needs analysis: Collaborate with analysts to refine needs and translate them into robust technical solutions.
•Code review and quality assurance: Ensure code quality through thorough reviews and implementation of rigorous quality assurance processes.
•Performance optimization: Regularly evaluate software performance and make necessary adjustments for optimization.
•Security considerations: Integrate up-to-date security practices to protect software systems from threats, considering architectural choices.
•Evaluation and integration of technologies: Evaluate and integrate new technologies that align with business objectives and enhance system capabilities, considering architectural choices.
•Troubleshooting and support: Lead the resolution of complex technical problems, providing expert troubleshooting and support.
•Compliance with architectural standards and collaboration: Collaborate with the portfolio architect to align with strategic architecture while retaining the necessary latitude to make complementary design choices.

Language Skills


•Fluent in one of the two national languages: FR or NL (level C2)
