We are looking for a Cloud and Virtualisation Engineer to manage our Windows server environment and design various network components. The role includes architectural tasks, implementation, optimization, troubleshooting, and advisory services across the entire infrastructure stack. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of relevant experience and expertise in Azure Cloud and VMware.

General Role

The Cloud & Virtualisation Engineer is part of the team responsible for managing the Windows server environment and designing various network components. The role includes both architectural tasks and implementation, optimization, troubleshooting, and advisory services across the entire infrastructure stack.

Scope of Architectural Management

The engineer is responsible for developing, configuring, integrating, and optimizing among others:
•Windows servers with various roles (e.g., file, print, Active Directory, SQL)
•Collaboration platforms such as Exchange, Teams, Office 365, and SharePoint
•Database systems (SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Sybase)
•Storage infrastructure (NetApp)
•Application servers on Windows and Linux
•Virtualization platforms (VMware, Proxmox)
•Client configurations (profiles, data storage, roaming)
•Software distribution systems (SCCM)
•Hybrid environments (on-premise linked with Azure)

When designing, factors such as:
•Disaster recovery and high availability
•Network topology and bandwidth
•Data center capabilities
•Costs, licenses, and lifecycle management
•Current and future functionalities
•Available resources (budget, personnel, infrastructure)
•CMDB management

The goal is to create a stable, coherent, and future-oriented infrastructure that meets the organization's needs.

Responsibilities

1. Design

•Develop a high-level server and infrastructure design tailored to user volume, network capacity, requirements, licenses, and additional needs.
•Document the design and propose improvements and optimizations.
•Evaluate and update the design as technology or context evolves.

2. Implementation

•Oversee the correct execution of implementations in both test and production environments.
•Verify that systems function optimally according to defined design requirements.
•Proactively analyze parameters, logs, and other signals to detect deviations in a timely manner.

3. Monitoring & Troubleshooting

•Analyze logging, SCOM alerts, and other monitoring sources.
•Investigate issues and take corrective actions, including adjusting configurations if necessary.
•Collaborate with external parties during environmental scans or audits.

4. Maintenance

•Periodically evaluate whether updates or revisions of the design are needed to keep the infrastructure modern, stable, and secure.

5. Documentation

•Use the organization's standard documentation tools and processes.

6. Advisory & Strategy

•Advise on technical specifications and procurement documents.
•Develop and maintain tactical roadmaps for the short and long term.
•Define projects that optimize the IT infrastructure.
•Conduct in-depth analyses of the existing architecture to prepare it for future evolutions, including security assessments and external connections.

Special attention is given to expertise in:
•NetApp storage
•Tools used in laboratories, such as Evisense/Trescal
•Trustwave Secure Gateway (email security)

At least 5 years of experience is required in these three environments. Security practices are built according to Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA).

An assignment of 4.5 months, with the possibility of extension upon positive evaluation.
