Overview
For an international R&D environment in Wilrijk, we are looking for a DevOps / CI Platform Engineer for a long-term collaboration (2 days per week onsite).This role is situated at the intersection of embedded software, desktop tooling, cloud services, and hardware integration. It is not about classic operations, but about building and professionalizing a CI/CD platform that supports multiple development teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines across multiple teams and platforms
Set up reproducible builds and containerized toolchains (Docker mindset)
Maintain and improve CI infrastructure (agents, worker pools, tooling images)
Standardize developer workflows through shared tooling and templates
Support release engineering (packaging, versioning, artifact promotion)
Implement quality gates, traceability, and auditability
Identify and address technical debt in build and deployment processes
Skills & Experience
Experience as a DevOps Engineer, CI Engineer, or similar
Strong Linux knowledge and troubleshooting skills
In-depth Git knowledge (rebasing, merging, submodules, branching strategies)
Strong Python skills (maintainable code, not just scripting)
Experience with Jenkins and pipeline-as-code
Understanding of CI/CD architecture and platform thinking
Comfort with containerized builds and complex build chains
Analytical mindset for multi-layer debugging (code + infra + tooling)
Nice-to-have
Experience with Bash, PowerShell
Build systems (CMake, MSBuild, Ninja)
Infrastructure automation (Chef, Ansible, Puppet)
Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions
Artifactory advanced flows
Embedded build flows and cross-compilation
Security-minded DevOps (SBOM, signing, secrets management)
