We are looking for a junior/medior test automation engineer for a government project starting in June 2026. The role involves designing automated tests and collaborating closely with analysts and developers to ensure software quality within a microservices architecture.

Overview

We are looking for a junior/medior test automation engineer for a government project.

Start: June 2026
Duration: until 31/12/2027, with an option for extension
Full-time assignment, partially remote
Language knowledge: French or English
Budget: 570/600 Euro per day, excl. VAT

Key Responsibilities

As an automation tester, you will be responsible for:
designing and maintaining recurring automated tests and mocking
creating and managing test datasets
executing tests within the TAF environment

You will work closely with functional analysts and developers and will be involved from the start in every user story. Anticipation ability, organizational flexibility, and smooth communication across team boundaries are essential in this role. You will work according to the guidelines set by the central QA & Control team.

Project

You will participate in a strategic rewrite project where an existing monolithic application is transformed into a microservices architecture.

The application resembles:
banking applications (management of payments, accounts, and refunds)
accounting systems

You will be deployed within one of the priority domains:
accounting management
transactions and orders
business rules
interfaces

Skills & Experience

Required Competencies

Functional & Methodological (must-have)
Minimum 3 years of experience in test automation
Experience in analyzing and clarifying functional and non-functional requirements
Thorough knowledge of test methodologies and preferably certified (ISTQB or equivalent)
Experience with Agile and Scrum
Strong communication skills
Good knowledge of English and at least one of the official languages

Technical (must-have)
Good knowledge of Gherkin and Playwright or Selenium
Experience with BDD and tools such as Cucumber
Thorough knowledge of XRAY
Experience with JIRA and Confluence
Strong programming skills, preferably in Java
Knowledge of JavaScript, JSON, XML, OpenAPI, Angular, Spring Boot, and HTML
Experience with API testing (Postman, SoapUI, automated via Java/Spring Boot)
Insight into API concepts such as idempotency, versioning, pagination, error handling, DLQ, and Belgif
Knowledge of message-queuing systems (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)
Thorough knowledge of databases, test datasets, and SQL
Basic knowledge of containerized environments (Kubernetes, Pods, Clusters) and related tools such as GitLab, ArgoCD, Helm, Harbor, Lens

Languages

Good knowledge of English and French or Dutch
