We are looking for an experienced Data & AI Platform Architect who will contribute to the further development of our data and AI landscape.
Overview
The architect works at a strategic and tactical level and helps the organization define the long-term vision, architectural principles, and technology roadmap for data and AI platforms. Close collaboration is required with enterprise architects, solution architects, platform teams, security, data governance, and business stakeholders. The focus is on designing scalable, secure, and future-oriented platform architectures that support the realization of data products, AI solutions, and generative AI use cases within a complex enterprise environment.Key Responsibilities
Strategic architecture and roadmap
The consultant is responsible for developing and monitoring the architectural vision and multi-year roadmap for the Data & AI Platform. They translate strategic objectives into a future-oriented target architecture and define the necessary architectural principles, reference architectures, and standards. Additionally, the consultant advises on technological choices, investments, and the further evolution of the platform landscape.
Data & AI Platform Architecture
The consultant defines and maintains architectural patterns for data platforms, data products, AI and machine learning solutions, Generative AI, Agentic AI, and event streaming. They monitor the coherence between performance, scalability, security, compliance, and governance. The consultant also supports various domain teams in the application and implementation of architectural guidelines.
AI & Innovation
The consultant takes a leading role in developing architectures for AI solutions, including Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, machine learning solutions, and knowledge architectures based on vector stores. They closely follow new developments within the AI domain, evaluate their relevance for the organization, and translate these into concrete architectural guidelines, guardrails, and recommendations.
Integration & Data Ecosystem
The consultant develops architectural patterns for integration between the SAP landscape, Databricks, Azure services, Confluent Kafka, API platforms, and other relevant components within the data ecosystem. They advise on event-driven architecture, data streaming, and interoperability, aiming for efficient and secure data exchange between domains and platforms.
Governance & Stakeholder Management
The consultant works closely with Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance, the Security Office, platform teams, product owners, and business stakeholders. They facilitate architectural decisions, build consensus among involved parties, and represent the Data & AI architectural framework in management meetings, architecture forums, and strategic decision-making processes.

Architectural principles, standards, and reference architectures for Data & AI.
Advice and decision proposals regarding platform choices and innovative technologies.
Architectural support for domain and platform teams.
Guidelines and guardrails for AI, data, and integration solutions.
Active contribution to governance, decision-making, and architectural maturity within the organization.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a data architect in multiple projects with complex data architecture issues.
Proven experience as a Data Platform Architect or AI Platform Architect.
Proven experience in a hybrid environment (on-premise and cloud).
Proven experience in translating conceptual information models into logical data models.
Proven experience with AI platforms or MLOps platforms.
Proven experience with Delta Lake and Lakehouse architecture.
Proven experience with Generative AI or LLM solutions.
Proven experience in developing AI governance or Responsible AI guidelines.
Proven experience with RAG architectures.
Proven experience with vector databases.
The candidate can demonstrate strong communication skills, analytical ability, and the capacity to clearly justify architectural choices during the interview.
Languages
Language requirement: Fluent in Dutch at European CEFR level C2.
Additional Info
The telework policy provides the possibility for teleworking for external resources. The right to telework is not enforceable, and the frequency will always be determined in consultation with the team leader. Furthermore, we expect the necessary flexibility regarding occasional travel to other locations or being more present on-site for certain activities.What you'll do
