Overview

We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to replace one of our employees at the Federal Public Service Finance, with a strong focus on backend testing and integrations.

Key Responsibilities

Design, set up, and maintain automated tests focusing on backend processes
Test APIs, integrations, and event-driven flows
Validate asynchronous communication between systems
Develop BDD scenarios (Gherkin) and implement them via automation frameworks
Integrate tests into the CI/CD pipeline
Analyze and debug complex errors in distributed systems
Collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and architects
Actively contribute to test strategy and quality improvement

Skills & Experience

Must-have skills

Minimum 8 years of experience
Strong experience with backend testing
Proven experience with queuing systems / messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS or similar)
In-depth knowledge of asynchronous architectures
Java as the primary language for test automation
Experience with automation frameworks (e.g., JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber…)
Practical experience with CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab…)
Experience with BDD / Gherkin
Experience within a Java context

Plus points

Experience in large enterprise environments
Knowledge of end-to-end integration testing
Strong debugging skills in complex landscapes
Experience with Agile / Scrum

Languages

Language knowledge: French or Dutch, with good knowledge of English
