Overview

We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to replace one of our employees at the Federal Public Service Finance, with a strong focus on backend testing and integrations.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, set up, and maintain automated tests focusing on backend processes

•Test APIs, integrations, and event-driven flows

•Validate asynchronous communication between systems

•Develop BDD scenarios (Gherkin) and implement them via automation frameworks

•Integrate tests into the CI/CD pipeline

•Analyze and debug complex errors in distributed systems

•Collaborate closely with developers, analysts, and architects

•Actively contribute to test strategy and quality improvement

Skills & Experience

Must-have skills

•Minimum 8 years of experience

•Strong experience with backend testing

•Proven experience with queuing systems / messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS or similar)

•In-depth knowledge of asynchronous architectures

•Java as the primary language for test automation

•Experience with automation frameworks (e.g., JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber…)

•Practical experience with CI/CD (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab…)

•Experience with BDD / Gherkin

•Experience within a Java context

Plus points

•Experience in large enterprise environments

•Knowledge of end-to-end integration testing

•Strong debugging skills in complex landscapes

•Experience with Agile / Scrum

Languages

•Language knowledge: French or Dutch, with good knowledge of English
