About the mission

We are looking for a mid-level System Administrator to join our Software Defined Data Center team. The role involves managing and optimizing storage, virtualization, and end-user computing platforms, with a strong focus on implementing a new strategic storage platform. The ideal candidate will have experience in enterprise storage platforms and virtualization environments, and will work closely with various teams to ensure the performance and modernization of our infrastructure.

Within the Directorate of Intelligence & Innovation of the Antwerp Police Zone, the Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) team is being further developed. To strengthen this team, we are looking for a mid-level system administrator with experience in data center, storage, and virtualization environments.

The SDDC team is responsible for managing, optimizing, and further developing the central infrastructure platforms. The selected consultant will work closely with the Network & Security, Dev/Ops, and Endpoint Management teams and will take responsibility for the continuity, performance, and further modernization of these environments.

An important focus of the assignment is the implementation and development of a new strategic storage platform, in which the consultant will be involved from the start.

The consultant will be responsible for:
Managing and supporting storage, virtualization, and end-user computing platforms.
Executing changes according to applicable procedures and standards.
Monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving incidents and problems.
Analyzing and optimizing existing infrastructure components.
Actively participating in migration, improvement, and innovation projects.
Collaborating with internal infrastructure and platform teams.
Documenting configurations, procedures, and technical solutions.
Taking ownership of assigned platforms and technologies.

Required technical expertise
Storage & Data Platforms

Strong knowledge of or experience with:
Enterprise storage platforms
S3 Object Storage
Cohesity
Pure Storage (Evergreen)
NetApp

Virtualization

Knowledge of or experience with:
Nutanix AHV
Nutanix platform
General virtualization and infrastructure concepts

Plus:
VMware vSphere

Knowledge of or experience with:
End User Computing / VDI
Omnissa Horizon

Pluses:
Other VDI platforms

Linux
Basic knowledge of Linux management for appliances and infrastructure components
No DevOps or software development profile required

Microsoft Platforms
General knowledge of Microsoft server environments:
Windows Server management
Infrastructure services within Microsoft environments
Basic knowledge of Active Directory
Basic knowledge of IIS
Basic knowledge of SQL Server

What we're looking for

  • Aantoonbare ervaring als Systeembeheerder (opzet, beheer en onderhoud van de systemen)
  • Aantoonbare ervaring met enterprise storageplatformen
  • Aantoonbare ervaring met het beheren van virtuele infrastructuren en onderliggende virtualisatieconcepten.
  • Aantoonbare ervaring met storage protocollen binnen een professionele infrastructuuromgeving.
  • Aantoonbare ervaring met troubleshooting, root cause analysis en operationeel beheer van kritieke infrastructuurcomponenten.
  • Aantoonbare ervaring met Windows Server-beheer en bijhorende infrastructuurdiensten.
  • Aantoonbare kennis en ervaring met virtualisatie-platformen
  • Aantoonbare kennis en ervaring, op systeem niveau, van minstens één van de specialistische systemen: Unix/Linux/Windows - Mainframe -Middelware - veiligheid- netwerk en communicatie - systemen, generiek of specialistisch
  • Aantoonbare ervaring met ICT infrastructuur oplossingen
  • Aantoonbare kennis er ervaring van de relevante ITIL processen (i.h.b. mbt wijzigingsbeheer).
